New Album: Stratovarius “Polaris”

So a special someone hooked me up with the new Stratovarius album “Polaris” a couple weeks early. All I can say is that it is an awesome album. There’s not a bad track on it favorites thus far would be in no particular order: Deep Unknown King of Nothing Forever is Today When Mountains Fall The last Stratovarius album (the self titled) was a departure from their metal roots and this brings us back. The album is filled with energy and passion and I can say I can’t wait to meet them in the fall, shake their hands and tell them how much I appreciate the new album. Definitely in heavy rotation on my car rides. Oh and the cover is a beautiful piece of work as...

Nightwish and Sonata Arctica

Well originally I wanted to do a full blown review of the Sonata Arctica and Nightwish show at the Wiltern but if keep waiting to find time to write one they’ll have already been on tour . That said, the show was awesome! Phillip and I had VIP tickets so we got to meet Nightwish! Very cool although bummer we didn’t get much time to talk or hang out but still cool to be able to meet them. Great news was no opening bands to sit through. Sonata was up first and rocked the house, the only complaint was what was up with the short set? They played maybe 8 or 9 songs which was a bummer. Elias is really looking more comfortable on stage he looked very self-conscience the last tour and he seems to have really gelled with the band which is great. Next up was...

Upcoming Awesomeness

So what’s better than Nightwish coming to town to play? Why if they come to town and play with Sonata Arctica. What’s better than that? Getting to meet and greet with the band before the show of course! Yeah so September 13 @ The Wiltern will be pretty much one of the most awesome days this year. Phillip and I have obtained tickets for the VIP meet and greet and early entry for the show can’t wait to meet Tony and Co. from Sonata and Anette and Toumas from...

Rocking it out…

Phillip and I went and rocked out into the we hours of the morning with Kamelot @ the Galaxy Theatre ( a great place to check out some metal shows I might add). Yeah it was sweet they always put on a good show. Biggest “cool moment of the night”? Simone Simons from Epica showing up and singing her part from the song “The Haunting”. Only complaint? Kamelot didn’t even take the stage until midnight. Santa Ana = 80+ miles from my house….. so...
