Home Automation….. Yeah I can turn on my A/C from anywhere!
So I hadn’t been too big on doing any home automation but for some crazy reason I really got a bug about setting up some automation. So this last week or so I have been trying some different solutions and setting up some devices and have finally rounded out the start to my home automation adventure. The setup consists of the following: A Insteon ToggleLinc Relay and few SwitchLinc – Insteon switches for lights A Venstar 7-day programmable Thermostat and Insteon Thermostat control A pair of Insteon Access Points A Insteon PowerLinc USB Controller My first attempt for software was MControl. The first 1000 miles…
Hit 1000 miles on the Vespa this morning. Very cool indeed hard to believe it’s only been 2 months I feel like I had it forever! On another note Andy and Heather are coming over tonight and the plan is to install some more home automation items and bluetooth in the car. should be fun. I’ll post updates on the whole home automation project soon.
New Lights
So this past weekend my best buddy Andy came over and we installed some recessed lighting in the living room. Looks great I’ll try and gets some pics up sometime this week. Really makes a HUGE difference. Big thanks to Andy for all his help! Oh and Mike for showing up hours and hours later.
Traveling
Sarah and Brynn are currently in North Carolina visiting Sarah’s grandparents and other family out that way. So I am bacheloring it up. Thought it would be more fun than it actually is. House is quiet and kind of lonely but I am getting a lot of stuff done. . I working through ripping my entire DVD collection (300+ DVDs) to my media server for streaming to the living room via the wonderful AppleTV. The beauty of it is that the AppleTV now supports 5.1 surround sound, so, with the right settings I get a great looking movie that I can playback on my AppleTV with 5.1, and my iPhone with 2 channel AAC! So I am the man. Installed a new toilet….
So after a week long battle with trying to make due with a leaky/broken/old/retarded toilet, bought a new one from Hirsch a Gerber Ultra Flush. Man that turbo flush is the shizdizzle. I can flush bricks now! wewt!
House update
Well it has been a really long time since I have posted anything about the house (like really long considering the last post was when escrow closed…) So what have we done? Painted. Everything. Seriously. New carpet in bedrooms New laminate in hallways and living room (really nice stuff and super durable to boot) Hung a bajillion pictures Garage is actually clean! Begun a fence project along one side of the house that was sorely needed (about 3/4 the way done) So what’s left? Finish the fence (probably 1 more build-a-fence party until it’s complete) Remodel bathrooms Replace kitchen & dining room floors Replace kitchen counter and splash Reface cabinets Complete re-landscape of the yard So there’s plenty to do.
