Home Automation….. Yeah I can turn on my A/C from anywhere!
So I hadn’t been too big on doing any home automation but for some crazy reason I really got a bug about setting up some automation. So this last week or so I have been trying some different solutions and setting up some devices and have finally rounded out the start to my home automation adventure. The setup consists of the following: A Insteon ToggleLinc Relay and few SwitchLinc – Insteon switches for lights A Venstar 7-day programmable Thermostat and Insteon Thermostat control A pair of Insteon Access Points A Insteon PowerLinc USB Controller My first attempt for software was MControl. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
What a way to start the day… Woke up to an alarm sounding in the office. Turns out a hard drive on my media server died this morning. Great. Mark my words that is THE LAST MAXTOR drive I ever buy. Period. This is like the 4th one I have die on me in 4 years. From now on it’s Seagate drives. Luckily I had the RAID configured so no data was lost. On my way down to PC Club to grab a new drive. Bleck.
About stinking time.
Lost returns tomorrow. After nearly 8 months off which seems like years. Looking forward to watching it with the family, we are watching the premiere at my parents house with all the various siblings and the following week we are watching it at our place. I know why am I going into detail, who cares, right? Well just want to say that if you haven’t been watching Lost in HD you are missing out. Period. It really is a straight up beautifully filmed in a beautiful location. Sometimes I can almost smell the jungle. Ok maybe that was taking it too far. But it really is a 1,000 times better in HD.
