The Longest Weekend
So something no one mentioned in the weeks leading up to the surgery was that after the surgery it’s like having a newborn but with the powers of a 15-month old. Yeah since Friday Sarah and I have had like 0 sleep. I take that back we have had a few hours thanks to my mom for coming out and staying with Brynn while Sarah and I tried to get some shut eye. Brynn has only had maybe 6-8 hours of sleep since Friday and there have been some long nights. on Saturday and Sunday morning at about 3 am I ended up just throwing Brynn in the car and driving around Santa Clarita since there was no other way to get her to sleep. yeah desperate times, desperate measures… exhausted but thrilled our Brynn has returned she has new mannerisms including saying “I...
Friday Update – Brynn
Big news of the day! Brynn was able to come home last night! I’ll put up more pictures tonight when I get home. Swelling is continuing to drop a little each day. She can now see so that has helped a huge amount! She slept pretty well last night but woke up about midnight and just sat in bed and talked for about an hour. Not sure what she was saying but I imagine it was something along the lines of “What the heck this has been a long week, but I am glad to be home” Sarah is finally getting some much deserved rest and sleep. I am grateful to have such a wonderful and dedicated...
Quick Update Wednesday – Brynn
Real quick update will explain more tomorrow… Rough day cried almost all day just wanted to be held, and even sometimes that wasn’t enough Eyes completely swollen shut, frustrating for her she just wants to see , she points to her eyes and rubs them saying “eye” sad Still has an appetite and is drinking pear and apple juice as fast as we give it her **BEST NEWS** swelling started to come down this evening some and she seems to feel better possibly coming home tomorrow. Not going to get hopes up yet but strong possibility according to the plastic surgeons. Thanks again to everyone for love, support, and...
Brynn Surgery – Tuesday Morning Update
Spoke with Sarah this morning here’s the scoop:Brynn cried all night and seems to be in a fair amount of pain. They are giving her Tylenol. Yeah I was surprised that was all too. They did give her some morphine last night to try and make her more comfortable but most of the comfort will just come over time. The swelling has increased (which was expected). They were able to feed her this morning and being the good eater she is no problems with that. Dr. Kreiger came by this morning and said everything was looking good so far and that she was adorable (we agree!!) . If everything continues on track she’ll be on her way home Friday most likely. Thank you all for the prayers and thoughts this week it truly has made a difference!
Surgery Update – Success
I’ll post a more complete update in the morning but here’s a quick recap: 6.5 hours in surgery 1 really swollen head Going on 24 hours no sleep Sarah staying w/ Brynn at hospital Successful surgery Thanks to everyone who came and supported us in the hospital all day and into the night. I’ll post more details but now I need to sleep. Praise God for his grace, mercy and hand in our lives.
Tomorrow
So tomorrow is the big day. Brynn’s surgery to treat her Unilateral Coronal Craniosynostosis. Very strange to see her running around loving life today and not have any clue what’s coming. Going to be a long week but one I am sure in which our faith will grow and appreciation of all God has given us will be brought to new levels. She is the greatest gift I have ever received I am so thankful for her. She really is the light of my life. It’s going to be a rough day.
