No more helmet!
We saw the plastic surgeon on Saturday and we were given some great news: Brynn no longer needs to wear her helmet! Very exciting that she is now “hat” free. She has been such a great sport about having to wear the helmet and in a strange way it’s weird not seeing her with it on since about 6 months old she has always had some sort of helmet on her head! It goes without saying that she is such a special girl and she amazes us all the time with her great vocabulary and her amazing dance moves. I have no idea where she gets her rhythm but it truly is a site to...
Brynn – Almost 3 weeks Post Op
Well it was a beautiful warm evening at our house when I got home so we decided to play outside. Thought I’d post up a shot of Brynn and how great she’s looking. Each day the swelling goes down a little more, her eyes get a little wider and we get closer to seeing how well the plastic surgeons did in reconstructing her. Our opinion? She’s the most beautiful girl around and quite the character! I am going to post up some video later of her antics….
Post Surgery Update – Plastic Surgeon
Well we met with Dr. Hammoudeh yesterday and things are going well! He had a hard time remembering which side her Cranio was on by looking at her (which is good!) He liked how she was healing. The bummer news which we were prepared for is that she will have to wear a helmet for awhile in attempt to keep her head growing round. Unilateral Coronal Synostosis apparently makes it tougher to keep symmetry. So we’ll be heading to the helmet place in the next week to get her fitted. But non-the-less is Brynn is looking good and the doctor’s are happy with how she is progressing.
The Doctor says….
She looks great. She will have to come back in a month but so far we are looking good! Praise the Lord!
2 Weeks Post Op – Update
Hard to believe just 2 weeks ago we were sitting at CHLA waiting to hear how Brynn was doing and how the surgery went. Today we have her 2 week post op appointment with Dr. Krieger, the Neurosurgeon. Hopefully we hear she is doing as well as we think she is. Anyway I’ll post an update after the appointment. Until then here’s a pic of Brynn today 2 weeks post-op.
Wednesday Update – Brynn
Well it has now been over a week and Brynn is still not sleeping! Last night was closer to how the weekend went with her up most of the night just wanting to talk and play. The good news is her swelling continues to come down and her eyes become more and more open. Are biggest issue now besides the lack of sleep is that she is quite the running daredevil and with strict orders to keep her from hitting her head it’s like telling her not to breathe! The worst part is the more we chase her around telling her not to run the more she thinks it’s a game. We’ll get through it but man oh man not fun!!
