So a special someone hooked me up with the new Stratovarius album “Polaris” a couple weeks early. All I can say is that it is an awesome album. There’s not a bad track on it favorites thus far would be in no particular order:

The last Stratovarius album (the self titled) was a departure from their metal roots and this brings us back. The album is filled with energy and passion and I can say I can’t wait to meet them in the fall, shake their hands and tell them how much I appreciate the new album. Definitely in heavy rotation on my car rides. Oh and the cover is a beautiful piece of work as well.
Combine a new Star Trek movie, podcast, hundreds of self described nerds and geeks and what do you get? Nerdtacular. The event put on by Scott Johnson who runs Extra Life Radio, consisted of the movie Star Trek, a get together at a nearby park and an out-of-towner barbeque at the Johnson house. An what an awesome time it was. My brother in law Garrett and I drove up to Salt Lake City, UT for the weekend so we could be a part of the festivities and we had a blast. Looking forward to next year!

So my new Macbook Pro arrived and I noticed something I hadn’t seen since one of my 15″ Powerbooks…. bizarre screen flicker at low brightness levels. So it’s going back to Amazon pronto….. hopefully the next one doesn’t have the same issue. If it does I’ll just return it and wait until revision B. I really should know better by now. Rule #1 of Apple laptops. Never buy a revision A of any of them. This is what I get.

So had number 2 arrive, this one had a dead pixel. Bummer! It’s going back as well. Probably try one more time. After that I give up.
So I had purchased a Glock 22 last year and have really enjoyed it. I had been looking to pick up a new 9mm Glock but seems they are impossible to track down right now. According to the 4 stores I called since the inaugaration sales have been through the roof and most of the more popular guns and calibers are on backorder. The one store in Burbank that had stock was marking things up nearly 50% so I said forget that! I ended up out at Gunrunners in Duarte and picked up (well paid for won’t get to pick up for 10 days, thanks California!) a Springfield Armory XD-40 sub-compact. Should be a sweet piece. here’s a pic of it:
